The audience are who the product is made for. They are the sole reason of creating a music video; To advertise to them, and sell the product. Meeting audience expectations is of great importance because of this. Our target audience is teenagers, aged roughly 14-19 of any gender. Music videos are often being downloaded via iTunes and similar sites for this age group, as well as being viewed via youtube.
We gathered our feedback through the use of questionnaires. We asked people who were within out target age group to watch the video and fill out the form.
The main problem that came up were issues with lighting. Saying parts of the video were too dark.
As the main issue that arose from the feedback was that of lighting, we decided to re-shoot part of our video, filming the lead singer singing through the song, in a brighter setting with added lighting.
We as a group found the audience feedback very constructive. The questionnaires showed that our target audience enjoyed our narrative and thought we were suiting the conventions of an indie video.
A graph of the scores given in the questionnaire.
An issue with feedback could always be that your target audience completely dislikes your idea and you have to re-shoot the entire video. Or at least change it drastically. However, for us, the audience enjoyed the narrative and overall thought that the video complied with the generic conventions of an indie video, and suited the bands style.
